Jody Costello

Jody Costello created her website - ContractorsFromHell.com - after she and her family endured a remodeling disaster and contractor fraud 17 years ago. She has since been helping homeowners avoid and deal with remodeling nightmares and unscrupulous contractors through her website, providing tips, warnings and advice.

Jody’s passion is to help consumers prevent costly mistakes and contractor troubles before they plan to remodel their homes and created the “Home Remodeling Bootcamp For Women” to empower women with the tools and solutions they need to maintain control of their money, their project and their contractor. (and men are welcome as well!). Jody maintains that when it comes to the home environment, it’s the woman who ultimately makes the final decisions and thus the Bootcamp is geared towards them. Construction is typically a man’s world, but women need to know how to navigate the murky waters and to successfully renovate a home.

Jody has attended Contractor State Board meetings and worked with the Enforcement Chief for California in pursing ways to better protect consumers. She has testified before the State Senate in favor of consumer protection bills related to construction and contractors. She also sat on the “Don’t Get Scammed” panel put on by industry organizations for the 2007 Wildfire Victims in Southern California.

Jody is committed to raising awareness about the risks and realities in renovating and working with contractors, by changing the way homeowners approach their projects to ensure they have a successful outcome.
